Ga Kenkey And Fried Fish



The image above is Kenkey and fried fish. Kenkey is a popular food of Ga the  tribe in Ghana. It is made of corn. It goes through processes  drying, soaking ,milling of the corn, and a dough is made before one can proceed to mould it into a round object covered by corn husks  before it is boiled. Then a fish is fried to match it. It important to note that Kenkey can taken with grinded pepper or stew of different kinds.  The Gas who see Kenkey as a Chief food call it ”Komey k3 Kena” meaning Kenkey and fish. In fact is a fast food afforded by all class of people and can be enjoyed any time of the day except at dawn due to the fact that one can be able to burn the starch around that time. Though it is a chief food of the Gas, it is consumed by all the other tribes. It will interest one to know that foreigners trooping into the Country also enjoy this popular delicacy.
